More Training Camp Details

Here’s a little more information on the Chiefs schedule for what should be their last training camp at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.

The team will depart Kansas City on Thursday, July 30. They will leave River Falls on August 21, before they play the Vikings in Minneapolis.

On July 31, they will have their running test in the morning and that is their only on-field work scheduled for that day. They begin practices Saturday morning, August 1st. Todd Haley has not scheduled any back-to-back two-a-day drills during the camp.

When the team has two practices, they are scheduled to start at 8:50 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. When the team has just one workout, they are scheduled to begin at 1:50 p.m. Practices will generally run two hours.

Here’s how the practices currently break down by dates:

  • DAYS WITH TWO PRACTICES – August 1, 3, 5, 7, 10, 12, 17, 19.
  • DAYS WITH ONE PRACTICE – August 2, 4, 6, 8, 11, 13, 18, 20.
  • FAMILY FUN DAY/SCRIMMAGE – Saturday, August 8 at 2 p.m.
  • NO PRACTICE DAYS – August 9, August 14, August 15, August 16 and August 21.

Remember this: the schedule is subject to change and in the previous 18 camps that I’ve attended in River Falls, there hasn’t been a year when the head coach hasn’t altered his pre-camp schedule.

Just remember, you’ll be able to follow all the changes as we will provide live coverage from the northwoods.

Cue yet another Elton John paraphrase in tribute to He that is me, real Rin -

“Green eyes…fake Rin’s got (HUGE) green eyes.”

Real Rin as Edwards & Peterson > > than fake Rin’s any and too ‘search’ & ‘check’.

Keep those adulatory tributes to real Rin He that is I a comin’…heh heh heh!

And lest I forget, STEVE DEBERG 4 LIFE!

  • July 8, 2009  - Rin Tin Tin says:

Steve DeBerg can count to ten with one hand.

C’mon, you’re lagging behind ‘fake’ Rin…hurry it up!

  • July 8, 2009  - Rin Tin Tin says:

While real Rin is waiting for ‘fake’ Rin to mess himself (again), who will be in charge of ‘check’ at Camp Crystal Lake this August?

If he happens to wonder toward town and takes a wrong turn…why, he could run straight into you know who – Jason (Whitlock being a far less fate.)

Who here thinks that Brian W. will pass the running test on July 31st?

That more than anything might tell us his willingness to be a Chief.

Too bad Steve Deberg’s name wasnt Leroy Steve Deberg or Steve T. Deberg. That would be more amusing initials.

“Who here thinks that Brian W. will pass…”

I’m pretty comfortable saying I think Mr. Waters will do just fine on the running test.

  • July 8, 2009  - findthedr says:

I think Waters can outrun Haley, even if Brian is running backwards and Todd forward.

  • July 8, 2009  - SG says:

If Haley gives him too much ****emphasis****, BW can always sit on him.

  • July 8, 2009  - Rin Tin Tin says:

Haley’s still looking for those “any 22″; thing is, I’m not sure he can count that high…

    :-)

    Real Rin –

Hope you soon find a job~

  • July 9, 2009  - SG says:

    “18 of 25 say -000000000″

Which one of the 25 are you? What do you say about findthedr’s comment regarding if Thiggy might have the early lead due to knowledge of Gailey’s system?

  • July 9, 2009  - Canofbier says:

Wait, what about the home preseason game against the Texans on August 15th? I was under the impression that things would be ready in time for that.

  • July 9, 2009  - Josh says:

I don’t think it matters if Gailey’s terminology is the same as last year or not. Thigpen is going to have to be Manning-like in the pre-season and Cassell is going to have to be Harrington-like in order for Thigs to get the start on opening day…barring injury, of course.

  • July 9, 2009  - kr24 says:

I think Thiggy should get a shot at the starting job. That being said, let the leaders of the players show up in training camp. They need to say losing is unacceptable and if you think it is, then leave. This includes Brian Waters. I like him but if he is unwilling to lead, then get out of the way. if it is someone’s first year on the team willing to lead, so be it. Losing is not an option gentlemen.

I love the fact that my calling Thigpen “Thiggy” is catching on. I got Bob to write an article about Thiggy last year and now people are posting about Thiggy. Let’s keep it up folks, maybe the announcers will talk about Thiggy this year.

Rin loves the fact that His calling Tyler Thigpen “The Little Big Man From Coastal Carolina” has not only caught on but Tyler himself told Rin he likes it.

Tyler “The Little Big Man From Coastal Carolina” Thigpen!

This has been a Real Rin  daddy-o blog – ‘search’ & ‘check’ affirming.
