Herm Heads For Television

ESPN announced on Thursday that they have hired former Chiefs head coach Herm Edwards to appear on their network of stations as an NFL analyst.

Edwards will appear on the NFL Live and SportsCenter programs on ESPN, as well as programming on ESPNEWS and other football related shows throughout the year.  He will also do some work on ESPN Radio.

According to ESPN, he will join the network sometime in mid-February.

“Herm is well-liked and highly respected throughout the league, and his insights and opinions as a former coach will make a tremendous addition to our year-round NFL coverage,” said Norby Williamson, ESPN executive vice president, production.

That’s cool, i think he’s better suited for that than a head coach.

Good for Herm. He is in his medium and will be excellent. I know he was considered a successful football coach but seemed a example of the “peter principle.”

Good to hear that. All the best to herm throughout his television/radio career! His insight on the NFL will be a big boost on SportsCenter.

LMAO, wouldn’t it be funny if ESPN blew this story too?!

Only if mortinson was saying it

    Haha, John!

Yeah, this definitely seems like a good fit for Herm.

Herm has been auditioning for a media job for the 8 long years he was overmatched as an NFL Head Coach. I’m happy for him that he landed one. He’ll do great at it.

I have been very critical of Herm Edwards as a coach. I don’t believe he is a good Head Coach, but he is a good man. There is always a place in this world for a good man. Congrats to Herm!

    Dear Herm,
I was happy to hear about your new career move. ESPN will be a good fit for you. As a season ticket holder, I would like to take this time and extend to you a sentiment that is sitting heavy on the hearts of most Chiefs fans today as they read about your move. Please, in honor of the People of Kansas City who have watched you patrol our sidelines for the past three years, take your fig newtons, spock eyebrows, same dress shoes you polish before each game, knees, elbows, hamstrings, shoulders, ears, eyes, ankles, teeth, skin, bones, etc., man-crush on brodie croyle, challenging calls for the sake of challenging, calling time-outs because they’re there, blowing 20-point leads in the 4th quarter, tampa-2, “bernard pollard is a great player”, using “well you know, we’re a young team” excuse for each loss, making out with carl peterson, poor-man’s tony dungy, not watching the super bowl til you coach in one, trading trent green and keeping damon huard, running LJ and Curtis Martin into the ground, winning a playoff game with Vermeil’s team and taking credit for it, 11 sack season, worst offensive playoff performance in team history, keeping LJ and letting Jared Allen go (Gunther says those were YOUR moves and I believe him), making out with Ty Law until he became a Chief, piss-poor tuesday sermonettes, never taking blame for any losses, never showing any emotion on the sidelines, assistant coach named ‘dick curl’ having, stupid moustache, raised baptist but converted to catholicism, worst coach percentage wise for TWO franchises, playing to win the game d*uchebaggery to Bristol, Connecticut where jerks like you belong. I hope to see you on television soon and look forward to watching you get slapped around by REAL coaches like Mike Ditka.

Good day sir, and good riddance!

    Love,

    Rin

….and Rin has affirmed…herms not the man.

  • January 29, 2009  - Josh says:

Haha…I hate to say it, but this doesn’t look like the work of Rin…as much as I wish it was…

  • January 29, 2009  - DanKCFan says:

WOW Rin what a change in your tune. lmao

  • January 29, 2009  - ILChiefsFan says:

Fake Rin Tin Tin: as obnoxious as the real Rin Tin Tin, without the “tis”‘s!

P.S.: Check out he winning %’s for Jets head coaches sometime; Herm isn’t even close to the bottom.

P.P.S.: Half the people in Chicago and everyone in New Orleans will tell you: Ditka couldn’t coach his way out of a paper bag.

P.P.P.S.: “raised Baptist but converted to Catholicism” – that’s a bad thing?

  • January 29, 2009  - arrowhead1978 says:

Yea well it wasn’t a bad thing either to let go of trent green and keep damon Huard, after trent got his bell rung you could definately tell it wasn’t the same trent green under center… and boohoo for LJ, ran him into the ground, maybe the wait of his ego had alot to do with that…

  • January 29, 2009  - Double A says:

Rin, that was the funniest letter I’ve read in awhile. And, I do not doubt it’s authenticity!

    Excellent work!

As far as Herm on ESPN, I’ve heard enough of his voice. I hope he’s on “The Blitz” while there is football games on to watch instead!

  • January 29, 2009  - colby says:

Well, if Michael Irvin proved anything, it’s that the mute button can quickly be pressed on your average remote.

  • January 29, 2009  - ED says:

Whoever inpersonated Rin needs to stop. That definately wasn’t Rin by no means come on guys lets not post stuff in other people’s name that’s childish and unfair to that person.

Anyways good to see Herm has taken a position like ESPN hopefully he’ll stay true to his word and give unbias opinions. I hate Sportcenter slash ESPN because it seem like they’re more concerned with the off the field stuff than the on the field activities. I don’t care who Romo’s dating. Or what TO did wore on an excercise bike. I want to hear about sports and everything else leave to the National Inquirer.

  • January 29, 2009  - Johnfromfairfax says:

I don’t know, it sounds like Europe helped clear Rin’s mind. That may be the most cogent post he’s ever made.

  • January 29, 2009  - Jody says:

I miss Rin Tin Tin. Herm is be great on tv, ouside of Tom jackson of the hated Broncos fame, they all suck.

  • March 20, 2009  - Jody says:

But not as bad as I do, that is.
