Chiefs Update 12/11

From the Truman Sports Complex

The Chiefs had another missing body during their second practice of the week to get ready for San Diego.

RT Damion McIntosh was out ill with the crud that seems to have infected every household in the Kansas City area.  The Chiefs expect him to recover and be ready to play this Sunday against the Chargers.  Herb Taylor worked at RT in his place.

Also not practicing on Thursday was C Rudy Niswanger.  He has not been officially ruled out of the San Diego game but it appears highly unlikely that he will play because of the knee injury he suffered in Denver last Sunday.

Add CB Maurice Leggett to the limited practice group as he fights a sore shoulder suffered in Denver.  Same for WR Mark Bradley and his calf.  Also limited were LB Donnie Edwards (knee) and CB Pat Surtain (quad), although Surtain took more snaps in practice than he normally does because of Leggett’s injury.

if Surtain has been able to practice all these weeks, its BS that he hasnt been able to play. He has been ‘out’ on the gameday roster because he is a backup.

Soren Petro’s podcast from yesterday was pretty good. He talked about Thiggys numbers compared to other Qb’s, you would be surprised. I was!

I think Herbie “The Love Bug” Taylor should start in front of McIntosh next season.

I would like to believe Taylor would already be playing if he was capable of beating out McIntosh. I would like to think herm and Chan would not sit Taylor to play Mc.

I agree. I think Damion Mcintosh is ahead of Taylor on the depth chart because he’s better at this point. McIntosh was a good tackle in San Diego, and he’s fought injuries since he’s been here, and was moved to a different side (which from everything I’ve read, can be difficult).

I think H. Taylor is a year or so away from moving up and being a full-time starter. I can’t imagine the Chiefs will adress the tackle position in the draft this year. It’s going to be a DE and few LB’s.

lb is where we need to adress in the draft i think the d line will be alot better next year dorsey will play like a pro and with tyler taking off the d line will be alot better a few guys here and there and then a power run game

If any of us know anything, I am sure the chiefs will tell us otherwise, the team is in the same turmoil as before the last draft. We gained a LT, 2 CBs (maybe 3)and a large number of players who need to develope or “may” play better next year. We have a team based on the hopes of the future and unable to show much success in the present. Hope some of these guys get better or it has been a huge waste of time.
