Chiefs Update 11/26

From the Truman Sports Complex

Wednesday proved to be an unusual day for the 2008 Chiefs.

There were no roster moves.

The same 62 names that were on the active roster and practice squad last Wednesday were back for another week of work.

That may not seem like news, but it’s only the second time this season there hasn’t been a change in one of the rosters at mid-week.  The other time was the Wednesday-Thursday of the bye week.

Unless something unusual happens – it has been the season for that – the Chiefs will get through this week without a change to their roster.

The team went through a two-hour session outside under perfect conditions for a November 26: sunny skies, warm temperatures and very little wind.

What isn’t perfect is the injury report.  Not practicing were RG Adrian Jones (ankle), LB Donnie Edwards (knee/hamstring), DT Tank Tyler (hip), DT Alfonso Boone (back), WR Mark Bradley (calf) and LB Wes Dacus (hamstring).

Taking a full practice load were LB Pat Thomas, CB Pat Surtain and S Jarrad Page.  With Thomas back, he mixed in with Rocky Boiman at middle linebacker.

I think Boiman has been really good as the fill in guy. It’s funny though, cause that’s all Pat Thomas is made for too. We need a stud MLB…

We will trade down and get that USC stud LB and Florida state DE-I Wish!!

    disagree eyePod,

Pat Thomas has the size, speed, and college pedigree of an OLB

I’d be happy with the MLB from Ohio St too. Then if we picked up a free agent RG/RT and a DE (just to get us by for a pass rush) we’d be in a much better position to compete.

I say we draft Marty Schottenheimer or the Tuna. Herm should be the corner back coach. Chiefs

Keep up the great work Coach Edwards. ALL of KC is behind you and we know that you will lead us back to glory very soon now.

AND NOW, Clark Hunt has RE-affirmed Herm’s The Man!

Anyone not eating read the Star today. Gunther is quoted as telling clark that in 10 years the Allen trade will be looked back as the start of it all. Add herm comment it may take 5 years for the defense to come together.

All taken out of context but how long will this rebuild take? The NFL does not usually wait 5 to 10 years to put a decent team on the field. If the chiefs lose 10 a year, that will 100 losses before they will headed for the playoffs.

    Just a Thanksgiving thought,

    “it may take 5 years”

    - or may not…who can say? Nostradamus was most famously a fraud – who better a one than he?

“The NFL does not usually wait 5 to 10 years to put a decent team on the field.”

    - and some teams are UNusually distinct – or – maybe ‘da stink’ as it were, ‘never’ realizing sweet reward.

Since Superbowl inception the never were’s which are lesser even than the has beens (as our Kaycee Chiefs), and to include: the New Orleans Saints – Seattle Seahawks – Houston Oilers – Detroit Lions – Jacksonville Jaguars – Carolina Panthers -Arizona Cardinals – and the now new as well once and former Cleveland Browns.

Dumb luck (emphasis ‘luck’?) If so, what if we in KC become from here on forward ‘never will be’s'?

Hari kari, one sort or another? Choose well your method demise, pick your posion.

Shall we change the ownership? No guarantee that having desired efect (see the Saints & Seahawks.)

Move the franchise? Always a sure-fire winner; well, KC did win aft leaving Dallas, but they were already Champions then and did not return to form until year 4 in KC. STL Rams won, but they were formerly LA’s Rams, and afore tha CLEV’s and…well, this is getting is nowhere fast.

Coaches? Ditto (see all the ‘never were’s’ listed afore.) With an NFL coaching carosel nee turnover rate better than stock market returns, change be obviously (as in many )a many spelndored thing, ad nauseam.

Players? Every team does this…they are as the days of our lives, disposable razors the nick of time.

Do nothing then? Or do all of the aforementioned?

The ONLY winner the Chiefs have known, ultimate & ultimately, was by sticking with Hank Stram, who many wanted fired during his 1st, 2nd and too 3rd years in KC. Eventuually he was terminated – aft year 15 and too two Championships including one World.

The moral of the story: have patience, and then have some more…be a virtue: Job, Jesus return, Chiefs fans…no one knows the hour or the day.
