Chiefs Practice Report – September 5

Safety, nickel back and special teams stalwart Husain Abdullah went on the Chiefs injury report on Thursday with a foot problem.

Abdullah did not practice and if his injury is such that he can’t play Sunday in Jacksonville, it will hamper the Chiefs on defense and in the kicking game. Abdullah jumped ahead of CB Dunta Robinson as the nickel back. He’s also on all the special teams units.

Missing practice again were RG Jon Asamoah (calf) and ILB Nico Johnson (ankle). It’s looking more and more unlikely that either player will be available to play the Jaguars. Geoff Schwartz has been working at right guard in place of Asamoah.

Also missing his third practice of the week was DE Allen Bailey; he’s been excused for a personal reason.

Added to the Chiefs practice/injury report on Thursday were CB Sean Smith (neck) and LB Dezman Moses (toe). Both were full participants in practice. So were LB James-Michael Johnson (groin), S Quintin Demps (hamstring), OT Eric Fisher (shoulder), TE Travis Kelce (knee) and OL Donald Stephenson (shoulder).

In Jacksonville, TE Marcedes Lewis did not practice on Thursday; he has a calf injury. Limited participants were QB Blaine Gabbert (thumb), RB Justin Forsett (toe), G Will Rackley (ankle), DT Roy Miller (knee), DE Jeremy Mincey (allergic reaction). WR Stephen Burton was back taking part in the full practice after being limited on Wednesday by illness.
