Chiefs Need Victory Over Raiders To Make Playoffs

There’s seldom any extra reason needed to get the Chiefs fired up to play the Raiders, and vice-a-versa.

But the Chiefs will have more motivation on Sunday in Oakland because a victory would assure them a spot in the AFC playoffs.

The Chiefs are one of three teams that can make the tournament field this weekend by winning, joining Denver, Indianapolis and Seattle.

Andy Reid’s team gets in with a victory, but they can back in if either Miami or Baltimore suffers a loss. The Dolphins host New England and Baltimore goes to Detroit for Monday night football.

The other teams that are in with a victory are New England and New Orleans. The Patriots win the AFC East with a victory over the Dolphins, and they clinch a post-season spot if Baltimore loses.

The Saints earn an invitation with a victory over the Rams in St. Louis.

All three teams – Chiefs, Patriots and Saints – can also get in with losses suffered by other teams.
