From St. Joseph, Missouri
The Chiefs added their fifth new face to the roster since the start of training camp on Wednesday when they announced the signing of CB Kennard Cox.
To make room for him, they released LB Travis Kilgore of Northwest Missouri State and Excelsior Springs High School.
The soon to be 28-year old Cox has played in 29 games for Jacksonville (2008-09) and Seattle (2010-11). He’s 6-0, 191 pounds and was primarily a special teams player with the Jaguars and Seahawks. He did not play in the league last year.
Cox was a 7th-round selection out of the University of Pittsburgh in the 2008 NFL Draft by Buffalo. He played 47 games for the Panthers after coming out of Killian High School in Miami, Florida.
Kilgore went to training camp last year with Oakland but was released before the start of the regular season. He played in 57 games at Northwest, with 392 total tackles.
