2014 NFL Free Agency/Day #4 – March 14

Cornerbacks led the parade in the fourth day of NFL free agency on Friday, five cover guys signing deals with either new teams or their old club.

The biggest money deal was a three-year, $17 million agreement between New England and former Seattle cornerback Brandon Browner. He will miss the start of the regular season on a continuing NFL suspension.

Joining Browner on making deals were Chicago’s Charles Tillman who stayed with the Bears, Cortland Finnegan left Tennessee for Miami, Tarell Brown used the San Francisco Bay Bridge to go from the 49ers to the Raiders, Chris Cook left Minnesota for San Francisco and Richard Marshall re-upped with San Diego.

The top money deal in Day #4 was offensive tackle Michael Oher, who left Baltimore for Tennessee on a four-year contract for $20 million with nearly half of that guaranteed money.

For the second time in four days, a free agent deal was nullified, as Dallas backed away from an agreement with former New Orleans linebacker Will Herring.

Here’s what I think at this point in time:

Reid/Dorsey should and DO know more about the current roster than anyone.

The 2014 draft will be major..success or failure of the team in 2014.

Alex Smith is a huge factor and needs the confidence of a good Oline, receiver corps, and ground game in order to advance the team beyond last year.

Andy Reid ‘ s momentum has to continue to inspire. A falloff? Trouble in the ranks.

Where am I going here? Very much like the disappearance of the 777…lots of speculation but no solid answers.
